DR. JAY THRUSH
Meticulous by nature, Dr. Jay is a problem-solving, detail-oriented, highly trained animal lover committed to improving the lives of pets. His passion for surgery and dentistry – both of which he calls “his jam” – is backed by over 30 years of experience in veterinary surgery and advanced training in orthopedics, TTA (cruciate repair) and dentistry. Dr. Jay believes that when clients or referring veterinarians ask him to care for their pets, they are trusting him with what matters most. His daily goals are to honour that trust, learn something new, work to become a better person and do something to leave the world a little better than he found it. As our Practice Owner, Dr. Jay elevates our entire team.
“The best thing about being a surgeon is making pets better. Surgery often improves an animal’s health and well-being rapidly and dramatically. Seeing that transformation from sick or injured back to well and happy is very rewarding.
I also love the challenging and highly technical nature of being a surgeon. Although many surgical procedures are routine, every patient is different. Those differences demand that I make changes on the fly and adapt to each pet’s unique circumstances with the care and precision they deserve. This is engaging, fun and very satisfying.
I became a vet to care for animals. It is exciting and gratifying to use my surgical skills to fix what’s broken.
